Sam is a young scientist and one of the few remaining people still on post-apocalyptic earth after a climate catastrophe. She wants to develop a procedure to make the polluted atmosphere on the planet fit for life again. Then she will have the opportunity to leave the earth with the last shuttle. First she refuses this tempting offer, but then she meets another survivor named Micah, who convinces her to emigrate with the rest of humanity to Jupiter’s moon Io. Together they try to reach the base from which the shuttles take off before it is too late and they have to stay alone on the deserted planet.
